I've only seen "Turandot" a few times, so I don't know it well enough to quote from without watching/listening to it again (which I may well do at some point in the next few weeks), I just know that every time I hear it, I get jolted awake by a few phrases that strike my ear as being from "Phantom". I want to say that one of them is in "All I Ask of You" (I'm going to hazzard a guess that it's the big operatic phrase under Raoul's big "Anywhere you go".... it isn't just that it's the same/similar phrase, it's also that the orchestrations are so alike, so it really sounds like the music drifted up 9th Avenue from 44th and snuck into The Met).
And I would say, creepy sexual ownership issues aside, I kind of am a fan of "Phantom" as a score.
