When Sutton did her concert at Lincoln Center, Jonathan was one of her guests, and they did ''Flattery'' (from ''Whoop-Up'') and ''Fit as a Fiddle.''

Otherwise, I don't think they've ever been in the same show, but they're connected as superfans. In 2006, I interviewed Jonathan for ''Spring Awakening'' Off-Broadway and he told me that he had seen Sutton six times in ''Thoroughly Modern Millie'': ''She knocks my socks off. And Michael Mayer directed 'Millie,' so how weird is that? I'm originating a role in a new musical and getting directed by him; it's everything I dreamed.'' Several years later, Jonathan would do the ''Miscast'' benefit concert and re-create Sutton's 8-minute tap routine to the title tune in ''Anything Goes.''

And she's often sung Jonathan's praises. In this Stars in the House podcast, Sutton, who was a surprise guest, says she loved ''Spring Awakening'' so much when she saw it Off-Broadway that she sent bagels to the cast. Sutton says she even made a small investment in the show.
