Levine conducted (hogged some say) so many performances over the years, it's almost impossible to not see performances -- or CDs and DVDs sold in the Met store -- with him. He also kept out many name conductors (i.e. better ones than he) during his tenure there -- insiders told me he was very nervous when Carlos Kleiber was conducting there those famous performances of "Boheme" and "Der Rosenkavalier". There were lots of rumors floating through the house for years that turned out to be true, unfortunately, as well.
