My take on this is that Hair, the musicians union's international president, did not want to approve the streaming of the concert because he felt it would set a precedent for streaming content without additional pay for the musicians. Many people would say that reason should certainly not apply in this case, as the COVID-19 crisis is unprecedented and so extraordinary, and so severe. Seems to me Hair could have easily approved the streaming of this program but made it clear that it was NOT to be considered for setting any kind of precedent for the future, and that any and all further requests to stream similar content involving union musicians without additional pay during the crisis would have to be approved on a case-by-case basis.

Anyone else agree with me that this is probably his line of thinking?
