My first trip to NYC, mainly to go to the World's Fair (and we stayed at the Chelsea Hotel because my sister was going to FIT!). So Funny Girl was out of the running. "We'll see her next time in something better." We also skipped Hello Dolly. Instead: Barefoot in the Park. Robert Redford, but Elizabeth Ashley was not in it. Instead, Penny Fuller. I thought it was a bore except when Mildred Natwick came on stage to show everyone how it's done. The next night was The Fantasticks. It was actually hard to get tickets in 1064, but I thought it was great. I don't know who was in the cast at that point. A program that has disappeared -- or turned to dust.
But I went to see Honeymoon in Vegas because it got great reviews. I was mistaken again. Ditto, Tootsie. |
