| That kind of thing has been done for many shows, for related reasons. The original long "we love you" in the opening of Company was sweetened with a recorded vocal track because the live cast wouldn't have been able to hold those notes long enough on their own - the pre-record allowing them to stagger breathe. The last section of the title song in La Cage was done to a prerecorded vocal track because the dancing was too demanding for the Cagelles to also sing well, and having just the townspeople section of the ensemble singing wasn't a big enough sound. |
