There are many, but a few that come to mind...
The Wild Party (LaChuisa) - I was a senior in high school and took the bus into the city with a friend for a Wednesday matinee. I was overwhelmed with how wonderful this piece was. Collette, Patinkin, Kitt ...wow. The score was phenomenal.
Thou Shall Not - I may get flamed for this one as I know people here hated this, but I absolutely adored it. Norbert Leo Butz really shone here, but I really appreciated Kate Levering (what is she up to?) and Craig Bierko. Stroman's choreography was excellent and Connick's music still resonates.
And speaking of Connick - I found the revival of On a Clear Day to be very enjoyable, and it gave us Jessie Mueller!
The Glass Menagerie - The Gold production got very negative reviews, but I found it to be the best production of Williams's play I've seen. Sally Field was an incredible Amanda and the entire production had me on the edge of my seat.
So bad it was good...Dance of the Vampires!! Yes, it was horroble, but I loved every second! |
