I thought both shows had fantastic and interesting scores (i think Taboo is a generally more successful score for sure but both are really worthwhile pieces) and amazing productions with incredible casts. How Walker didn't get a nomination is beyond me.
I didn't see Ramin in Les Miz, but I don't think BOTH Mays and Pinkham deserved to be in that category, surely one of them is supporting (Bryce I'd say)... both were awesome but, if the Genie in Aladdin is put in Featured than so would, I'd think, Mays (though I think he had the tougher role).
Walker deserved to be nominated in Lead.
I truly don't get how it was closed out entirely from the awards. At least Taboo got a Best Score nom. In a year when Beautiful and After Midnight and Aladdin were 3 of 4 Best Musical nominees, how did this not get any nods for musical, score, book, direction or even set or lighting design, let alone Lead Actor? |
