I agree, in the sense that the big "dies irae" predictions and pronouncements only add to the gloom and doom and palpable anxiety we're all already dealing with. Even if there is truth in what is being said. I personally can't think about 2021 right now - I can only deal in the moment I'm in. I've already lost a number of theatre gigs, both ones that were to be current and a few that were on the horizon, and hearing right now that I might not have any more gigs until 2021 or beyond is NOT HELPING!!!! So much better to take things day to day and month to month and see how things develop.

The "type A" side of me loves to plan ahead and to know as much as possible what's coming down the pike. But in this situation, dire predictions are just making me (and I assume many of us) much more depressed. Again, even if there is eventually truth in the prognostications. It may seem strange to say, but I think I'd rather be disappointed later than sooner.

I just went through the grueling process of casting a show through all video submissions, for performances in November. Maybe the show won't happen. But right now, I'd rather have the illusion that it will, and work towards that goal. And I think my cast would say the same thing.

No use permitting some prophet of doom to wipe every smile away. At least not yet.
