| Deirdre, I was lucky enough to get to perform with your Dad in INHERIT THE WIND (I played the Mayor). He was incredibly kind to me and was always available to chat or share a story from his remarkable career. And he had a wicked sense of humor. I was always sorry that we didn't continue after Chris left so your Dad could switch over and play Drummond. He would have been spectacular. My condolences to you and all of your family on your loss. A very, very sad day indeed. Jeff Steitzer |

| Due to the combination of him with Joy Franz' Linda was the first time I heard men openly wept in a theater! | |

| Just to give the correct actress her due...it was the indelible performance of Elizabeth Franz. | |

| My favorite line of hers in the play. “I live from day to day”. Heartbreaking in its simplicity. | |

| I second the idea that as soon as I heard I thought of Deirdre and came right here. My words of wisdom at a time like this? I lost my my only sibling, a sister, when I was three. I lost my mom when I was four. They would, arguably, have been my two closest relationships throughout my life, and yet I have no memories of them whatsoever. Once you pass through the stages of grief, hopefully you will have years of memories to comfort you. Anecdotally, I've observed that the first round of birthdays, Father's Day, Christmas, etc., will be difficult, but after that it will "Remember when Dad did/said...?" followed by smiles and laughter. For the record, your dad was a damned fine actor. {Hugs} |

| My condolences to Deidre and family. I've enjoyed your father's work over the years. One of my cousins was a student manager of the football team at Columbia University back when your Dad was playing football there as a fellow student. Very sorry for your loss. | |
