Speaking of underrated Off-Broadway works, I've a soft spot for their 2002 ''A Man of No Importance.'' It had a book by Terrence McNally and starred Roger Rees and Steven Pasquale. And its score boasts two of Flaherty and Ahrens' finest songs: ''Love Who You Love'' and ''The Streets of Dublin.''

I loved this little gem at Lincoln Center when it played. I admit I haven't returned to the score much, outside Streets of Dublin... but in context I thought it was wonderful.

Not on the level, as a score, with Dessa or their other biggest achievements like Ragtime and OOTI, but it's up there.
