| I only got a credit even though California had a stay at home order with penalties for violating. I talked to a supervisor that said credit was it and I should be grateful to Alaska airline in getting that. They ran all four flights that day with less than 10 passengers on each plane. A friend of mine is a travel agent and he suspects the airline kept losing money in flights to meet airport gate requirements to not lose the gate in the future. Wasteful fuel and environmental impact to keep a gate. I agree to wait until airline cancels. American I get credit but can apply for refund by separate process. Going through the motions now. |

| Yes, the airlines are only providing refunds to original form of payment if they cancel your flight, and even then it's under duress; they were trying to give credits only in that case but the regulators reminded them of their obligation if they cancel the flight. Since the flights operated, you were technically not entitled to a refund, but the airlines have waived change penalties, and have even extended the validity of tickets and credits. Normally you'd have to use the value of the ticket within one year from date of purchase, so if you bought the ticket 9-10 months ago, you'd kind of be out of luck. Now I think they're just giving vouchers for future travel valid for two years. If your flight *is* cancelled, they're still trying to convince people to take vouchers by adding a 25% bonus (so $200 original ticket gets a $250 voucher) because if they give everyone a refund they'll literally run out of cash. | |

| Also credit/voucher for me with United and Aer Lingus (who's giving your expenditure plus 10%). Booking through a third party may include extra rules and fees. And, yes, you have to ask because all flights are not cancelled. |

| It’s a trip to see New Order and the Pet Shop Boys shows together, even if the shows get postponed I will still come if I can and it seems safer. If I can come I hope I have better luck with Alaska, having said that the flights were the cheap part of my trip. Six nights in SF and Four in LA hotels really mounts up !!! Hope the hotels will round if the quarantine is still ongoing. | |
