Every time I see a production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN, I find it almost unbearable to watch -- yet fully believable -- that, even though Willie is in a desperate financial situation from the beginning of the play and then loses his job completely, he CANNOT accept the offer of a job from Charley simply because of his pride. |
