what a shame they aren't going with the perfect 10th Anniversary concertproduction

The show has never sounded or been performed better for my money -- the cast is beyond perfect, every role, and the score sounds lightyears better than it does on the cast albums if you ask me. And truly I don't think anyone sings Val Jean as well as Colm, especially with that orchestra behind him. And good as Alfie Boe is, he doesn't quite compare vocally with what Colm can do (especially for a concert), and it would be nice if the people watching this coming weekend got to see the original Valjean.

For most people I've ever talked to about it, this is THE Les Miz experience... I know it's older and doesn't have a Jonas Brother in it, but Les Miz hardly needs that to get eyeballs.

You are so right. A perfect cast, orchestra, and direction.

I doubt even Cameron Macintosh would dispute the 10 year anniversary concert was the best LM experience, but like many LM fans, I overdosed on the PBS airings, and subsequent DVD and CD, back in the 90s and don't need to see it again. I welcome a different version for variety's sake.

Completely agree with you, Sir! Even lacking the full staging, 10th anniversary is the best. Took a close friend who helps me with a lot of stuff to see (and review) the current Les Miz tour which she loved so I found and bought for her the DVD of this version. Paid a fair amount of money for it, used no less, but if I'm going to give a gift, I want to give the best.

Totally agree! This is called the DREAM CAST concert and it merits the title! Colm personifies the rough convict well and sings with a voice that fits the persona. How ironic that in the film, his interpretation of the opposite character ( that of the kind Bishop) was equally well-done... Michael Ball was the original Marius and his Empty Chairs is the best rendition of the song. I did catch the original Enjolras in the original run on Broadway although he sounded less forceful here ( it seems he was sick). The ladies ( Ruthie Henshall/JudyKuhn/LeaSalonga) all delivered vocally-speaking. Also, the epilogue with all the worldwide Valjeans coming forward was a nice touch.

First of all, it's only available in the UK and Australia. Second, it's not a free stream. They're actually selling the digital download of the recent staged concert, with the proceeds going to charity. While I agree that the 10th anniversary concert is the best performance, it's old, and many people already own it, so there's no reason why they would try to sell it now in order to raise money.
