Little Dog Laughed on right now

Little Dog Laughed is on Stars in the House right now. As with Michael Urie, the fact that the cast members have all done this show before is very apparent in terms of the depth of their performances.

The Stars in the House play readings are really great.

So happy to see this, as I couldn't make it to NY during the Off- or Broadway run. Julie White is an acting beast.

Is that Galecki’s house? There was nothing in the shelves, which could have been cleaned off. My guess is a common room in his apartment building that he reserved for use. But that is a total guess.

I would guess either the basement of his house (I doubt he is living in an apartment for the duration) or a virtual background.

probably not a virtual background

Because Seth said during interval that Galecki was closing the doors to get back to position.

I was thinking ny apartment (looked like old paneled room of historic apartment), but you are probably correct that he lives in LA and in a house.

He was making $24 million a year on “Big Bang” and god knows how much on Roseanne/Conners!

He is much more of a Mitchell now than an Alex

A quick google shows that Galecki lives in California in a six-bedroom house built in 1929, so that was probably his house. It looks like a house built in that time period.

That does look like room from 1929

Same! But I had to bail at the very end for a work Zoom meeting! Oh well. At least I got to see/hear most of the show with the original cast. I'll probably just go read the play now to find out what happens at the end! But that was enjoyable. And it was nice to have standing plans again for a brief moment! That alone was worth the donation!

The ending.

Not sure how far you got. But Ellen tells Alex shes pregnant with his child. Alex asks Mitchell for $1500 for an abortion and Mitchell blames Alex for his career problems. Diane gets them all in a room and offers $10k (blank “to”) to Ellen to get the abortion and have money left over but before she hands over she asks them what they really want and proposes that Mitchell and Ellen get married and have the baby and Alex will be a personal assistant to Mitchell. She leaves the check on table and leaves the room. Each have private fourth wall moment. Alex emerges from room to start a new chapter. Diane has him open the envelope and it is already made out to Alex. Ellen and Mitchell do get married.

After the play, there was a brief chat with the cast, and Julie White became very emotional about remembering the show and started getting teary. It was very touching. She focused on how much she enjoyed being with that particular cast, but I imagine she was also thinking about her life before and after. Although a Tony doesn't mean much in Hollywood, it means something in the New York theater world, and winning that Tony probably opened professional opportunities for her. It's probably not an exaggeration to say that show changed her life.

I once saw the cast in a booth at the WestWay Diner on a matinee day and they seemed to be having a great time together.

It's always nice to hear that a cast genuinely likes each other. I think I mentioned that the Spring Awakening cast reunion on Stars in the House also seemed to be a cast that really likes each other.

Julie White story

In reply to: re: The ending. - schauspieler 09:59 pm EDT 04/22/20

About the time of Little Dog Laughed, there was an interview where Julie White was asked what the best advice she was ever given was. She shared that her manager who helped her book the sitcom "Grace Under Fire" sat her down and told her that she had gotten lucky with this job (and its pay) but that fundamentally, she was a theater person and would always want to be one. So, he told her, don't get a more expensive apartment, don't get a new car, don't buy expensive clothes, but bank every penny from that show and get to a place where you don't need to take a job for money every again. And so she did, which let her take jobs in New York in small theaters, doing work she wanted to do rather than "had" to do. And she ends up with a Tony.

It has added an extra layer following her career knowing this bit of background. Smart agent. Smart lady. Terrific actor.

Hopefully she banked every penny from her Transformers movies too, following Little Dog Laughed. She can buy even nicer clothes & nicer apartments now! I'm sure her manager appreciated those gigs!
