While I do really like Sutton's voice in/for this, I prefer Lee Remicks for it... and I may as well come out and say that I think Sutton's voice does almost no role she's played any favors other than Millie, and she has one of the most unremarkable and unimpressive voices I've ever heard from a reigning broadway star in the history of broadway musicals. :)
That's not to say I don't enjoy very much and find her wonderful and her singing voice totally good (though again specific, but not in a unique way or in an impressive way), but... it's her charm and likability and the timing of her getting Millie that are responsible for her musical theater stardom because it can't be her (very capable and good but nothing actually special) singing voice. |
