The symbiosis that exists between actors and audience is not analogous to sports.
Could they stage shows without an audience? Sure. Would it "work"? I suspect it would be flat and lifeless.
(Edited to add: Wasn't one of those "live" TV musicals done without an audience? I remember the incredibly awkward silence at the end of musical numbers...") |
