| As I have said, I am fine with the bandwagon of not appropriating "flop" for "I didn not like it" reasons. As I have also said (above, I think, in a subject line), the terms are really not binary. Many a tour that producers and investors "hope will recoup on the road" is advertised as a Broadway hit. Some also do on Broadway when they are tanking. As to total failures, I think I ususally call those train wrecks. :-) Finally, I'd be curious about pre-Mandelbaum uses of "flop" outside of the financial meaning. |
