I've never heard their CRADLE WILL ROCK, but I am very familiar with the Jay Records album of THE KING AND I. It is billed as the "First Complete Recording," on two CDs.
In actuality, it is a note-complete recording of the original Broadway score, including not just the songs but also all dance, incidental, and background music. Oddly, however, very little of the spoken dialogue is included. With some exceptions, much of the underscoring is presented without the dialogue that overlays it in the show.
A single CD of "highlights" was also released. |
