| Unfortunately, I think I'm too old now, and was too young then, to be able to offer any useful information on pre-Mandelbaum use of the word flop... and it's also entirely possible that he did start this usage of the words, and then it got echoed by other books that I was reading. Having given it a little more thought, it's more likely that I was reading all of those books in the early 90s, rather than the late 80s... but childhood has a way of bending in on itself. |
