I think Alex Sharp might have been younger when he won, at 26 years old. Donovan looks older than that, although that might not be the case. Either way, it's quite an accomplishment for Donovan and Sharp both to win the award at such a young age.
Acting award winners often skew younger for women. For the Oscars, at least 10 women have won Best Actress at a younger age than the youngest Best Actor winner (Adrien Brody, at age 29). But the Drama Desks (and the Tonys) have recognized a number of older actresses recently. In the past 10 years, Cicely Tyson, Elaine May, and Glenda Jackson have all won the Drama Desk and the Tony for Best Actress when they were over 80. I am not sure any man has won Best Actor in a Play at that age. |
