I've always loved ''The Contract'' from the 1973 Broadway musical of ''Gigi.'' Lerner's lyrics are so literate and witty, and Agnes Moorehead sounded so hilariously haughty. I'm surprised she didn't get a Tony nomination. However, I read somewhere she fell ill and had to leave the show. Still, I'm so glad she got to do the cast album. ... (The 2015 revival of ''Gigi,'' sadly, hacked this number to bits, cutting its length down by a third.)
I wonder whatever happened to Karin Wolfe, who played the title role of ''Gigi'' in 1973. That was her last Broadway credit. |
