Not sure what you mean by the whole package: the whole role or the whole rendition of the songs? Maybe Rodgers agreed with me that Smith's "whole package" in rendering the songs was superior to Hall's. I personally feel that sheer vocal beauty is an absolute requirement for an effective performance of Bali Hai (not necessarily for Happy Talk). |
