Finally Watched SMILES OF A SUMMER NIGHT
Posted by: StaunchKarakter 02:57 pm EDT 06/16/20

I finally watched "Smiles of a Summer Night!" It's on the Criterion app. What a lovely, lovely film. I quite enjoyed all of the actors. Carl Magnus and Henrik are both very sexy, haha!

I appreciated the deep shadings of connect and disconnect among the lustful and loving relationships. Certainly this depth and frankness would not have been allowed in a U.S. film from the same time period.

I've been searching online for commentary from Ingmar Bergman and/or any of the actors. Would particularly love to hear/read their thoughts on the legacy of the film and if they had opinions on "A Little Night Music," as surely most of them were alive when it was originally produced.

Anyone have any resources or remembrances on the matter?
