No, the expense—beyond the phone itself—would be a monthly fee to Verizon or whoever so I could have the marvels of the web while I’m on the go. That’s the expense I don’t need, and
I can’t figure out a way to explain that to you. I do have devices that let me use the internet. At home. At work. At family members’ homes. If I travel (not likely) now to a hotel in another city, which in the past I would do once, maybe twice a year.
I have no need to buy a smartphone and pay a monthly fee that I would use a handful of times each year. My little dumb TracFone costs me roughly $35 a year. Not a month, that’s per year. I have it so I can phone if my car breaks down. The internet can wait until I’m home.
It’s an even more ludicrous item since with the virus, I’m not going out anywhere. Grocery, pharmacy, bank, post office, doctor, dentist, and physical therapist— that’s been it since early March.
I do not need the expense of a smartphone...because I have very little use for one.
