| The voice of Vera Lynn was heard during every performance of Lionel Bart's 1962 West End musical "Blitz!," a spectacular recreation of London during the bombing of 1940. Bart wrote "The Day After Tomorrow," a song perfectly in the style of the period, Lynn recorded it, and the company, taking shelter in the underground, listened to it (and joined in) as it played over the radio. A reprise of "The Day After Tomorrow" ended the first act. |
