I think this is a very flawed work and rather tone deaf in light of the current world we are living in today. What is it about this story that helps us better understand anything about anything?

Ummm, seriously? Andrea Levy's father arrived in England aboard the Empire Windrush. If you've been following the news, there could hardly be a more appropriate time for her book based on these experiences to be staged. In fact, the National had intended to restage it at the end of the year. Sitting in Limbo, another new BBC drama about the Windrush scandal, also got a big write-up in the NYTimes as recently as... yesterday.
