It is an interesting subject that I wish I felt the energy to respond to in some specific way.
I may come back and write a bit more in the next day or two, if I can, but I did want to mention that neither of us has mentioned two of the most noticeable differences: the bedroom scene with Henrik and Anne (and the scene with Frid and Petra where Frid tells the story we need to know for the later scene), and that we see the Russian roulette game. The plan had been to include the latter in Night Music, but it seems that Aronson couldn't see a way to design it without a pavilion set piece that would have had to sit there all evening. Sounds odd. Anyway, it was, of course, put back in the Night Music movie, with some differences from Smiles but pretty similar. |
