He was in Edward Albee's THE PLAY ABOUT THE BABY off-Broadway in 2001 and I was a bit surprised that he didn't get more traction from that, not least because he appeared completely nude. The play got decent reviews and had a nice run for commercial off-Broadway, but Marian Seldes and Brian Murray seem to have gotten the lion's share of attention over their younger colleagues. In any case, the play probably got more attention for Seldes' and Murray's participation and I'd have thought that some of that would have bled over to Burtka and Kathleen Early as the younger couple.
That time was really pre-explosion of the internet, so perhaps it would have been different, and easier to promote him had the play opened a few years later. |
