| Early on, I posted that I thought it made some good observations even though he also said a lot of obnoxious and offensive things that (as I think I said then) undercut the good parts (and the thrust of the discussion here more or less demonstrates that). I also now think he is perhaps not a trustworthy messenger because it seems he likes to make shit up. I don't want to drill down into the miasma but I would ask you one question: do you and your peers abide "And then the de rigueur gesture, a Pilates move for penitent whites... " and if so then what are your proposing as more apt? To stop making theatre as terminal punishment? There are, believe it or not, good people other than your peers who make theatre. There is systemic racism but unless your proposal is simply to give up (which it seems to be and which is itself about as toxic as it gets, imo) then you have to work to fix what's broken. I have faith in the human animal. (Maybe that's my lapsed Catholicism rearing its ugly head. Or something.) |
