The longer show medley ones are my faves, headed by Grim Hotel, which I’m constantly quoting, especially “people come, people go, people move chairs.” (Followed by Gagtime, Lion King, and Titanic, and “Into the Words.”)
I think the line “Oh, please, Julie, not a blade of grass” entirely wrecked the grasslands scene in THE LION KING for me, because I started laughing too hard.
There are a few individual lines from other songs (or dialogue) that get frequent use in our house. Large head mics result in our bad Ethel Merman versions of “What’s the thing on your forehead? It looks like a nuke warhead!” Any ref to SPRING AWAKENING has us snickering, “The hat helps.” Mandy = “gesticulating Sondheim always makes my fingers bleed.”
But the most-used is from JEKYLL AND HYDE: “This is my key change!” “I’ll do one, too! (howls)” Damn near any overwrought key change can produce that one, so we have plenty of opportunities!
