Gangsters kind of count. So I'll add "Guys and Dolls" -- among other things, Nathan lies to Adelaide about the crap game. Nathan tries to cheat Sky about the cheesecake and strudel bet. Plus, Big Jule cheats with his dice.
Also, "How to Succeed" in that Finch lies and covers up his inexperience to move up the corporate ladder, and Bud Frump is only too happy to let Finch steal his treasure hunt idea for a tv show ad campaign.
Another Frank Loesser -- "Charley's Aunt", Charley masquerading as the aunt.
Plus, I've already mentioned Tony's lie in "The Most Happy Fella". Boy, Frank Loesser had his characters lie a lot!
Not Loesser, but Kander & Ebb: "The Happy Time" -- Robert Goulet's character Jacques, when he sings "I Don't Remember You" is a big lie, though romantic as hell. |
