As I understand it, these "benefit" streamings of performances are done under the auspices of The Theater Authority, which coordinates permission for the actors to work for free for a benefit. The number of performances- live, live-streamed or recorded then streamed, is strictly limited and after that number of streams (or days) they have to enter into a contract with SAG-AFTRA for re-use. The Seth Rudetsky chats are not covered since they are considered interviews, not performances. I imagine the Rebeccae Luker ALS interview is treated the same way.
Actors Equity has recently claimed jurisdiction over non-benefit streamed readings or performances, but so has SAG-AFTRA, and this has yet to be resolved. |
