| I agree. One other thing that I think requires mention in this piece is that it lets people confound a sexual atmosphere and sexual assault. Lots of people hook up while working together in the theatre, some go on to date, some to marry, and some even live happily ever after. (Some of us have done some of those things multiple times. I won't say more. TMI :-) ) Likewise, some directors infuse their work with more explicit sexual situations than others. All of these things can be consensual and appropriate (even if later regrettable). We should not be treating these characteristics as related to non-consensual actions or to actions arising out of an unequal (actual or potential) professional relationship. ETA: In the last sentence, I'd prefer the word "equivalent" instead of "related." |
