| Your last line bears repeating. There is much confusion that persists--is an online reading done by a theater company a play or a film? If it is a reading, does it follow Equity rules for staged readings or SAG-AFTRA rules for short films? Or is it neither and people can make their own contracts? (Without timely or consistent guidance, it has fallen to the latter or the aforementioned Theater Authority. As people are largely working from goodwill, up until now, actors have seemed to be negotiating this process okay. But as this lingers on, the benefits of Union protection / assistance may be helpful.) |
