excuse me, how did you read your conclusion into what I said?
My point is - why would a color blind, or gender blind, or sexuality blind casting be acceptable, but an age blind not? No one seemed to have trouble with the geriatric Hello Dolly because the performers were good. Can someone honestly tell me McKellen won't turn in a fascinated interpretation? It may not work, but lots of shows don't work for a various reasons. What burns me is the assumption that age blindness isn't as valid as any other blindness in casting |
