It was wonderful to see Lou Liberatore, who hasn't been on Broadway since his Tony-nominated turn in Lanford Wilson's ''Burn This'' in 1988. And then there was Carson McCalley, a 2018 Carnegie Mellon grad who just made his Broadway debut in Matthew Lopez's ''The Inheritance'' last fall.
Plus, Mario Cantone, Charlie Carver, Rick Elice, Telly Leung, Kevyn Morrow, Denis O'Hare and James Joseph O'Neil. Kudos all around.
Wikipedia says this ''Boys in the Band'' sequel, which debuted in 2002 in San Francisco, originally ran 2 hours and 20 minutes.
But this Pride Plays presentation runs only 90 minutes, so I guess Mart Crowley must've made some substantial cuts at some point.
It's so sad that Crowley, 84, passed away only earlier this year, but I'm glad he got to see his ''Boys'' make it to Broadway and win a Tony last year. |
