I agree. The ensemble was on stage more than they needed to be, and if you don't know the show already, it's distracting from the very dense lyrics.
Also agree, of course, that Savion Glover should absolutely have won the Tony for SHUFFLE ALONG. Best dancing on Broadway in many moons. That choreography wasn't just terrific; it was steeped in history. Mr. Glover's ability to recreate styles of a previous era while elevating the form is unlike anything else we've seen.
