| Fascinating. This would have been, of course, six years before the play received its "world premiere." Not that this kind of thing doesn't happen--a lot--today, but I wonder what took so long for this sequel to such a famous play to be performed on any stage, let alone one in NY. What I saw last night was certainly far from terrible. Maybe it needed the severe cutting it appears to have gotten.(Although this probably caused some problems itself.)Maybe Crowley himself was just not satisfied, although I could swear I saw some interview in which he bemoaned the later play not being produced. |
