He wrote, directed and acted on Broadway. Those credits can be listed on a single piece of paper compared to the ream that would be required to cover his film and TV credits. But they at least give us enough of a hook to honor the memory of a great entertainer.

His directing track record was appallingly bad, his acting antedated the theatre-going era of almost all of us. see link. Any memories of any of it?

While unfamiliar with this show, which was Reiner's first brush with Broadway, I noticed that besides the stars, Jack Haley and Beatrice Lillie, that in small parts like Reiner were humorist Herb Shriner and the always-hilarious Louis Nye. It looks like Shriner did a monologue using his "Indiana boyhood" persona that he was his hallmark.
