| Talent agencies make most (all?) of their money from the 10% commission they get from what the artists they represent make when they are in shows, films, or tv if they are legit, as opposed to commercial agents (who send their people out for commercials and/or voice-overs). Since there's like no legit work out there, that's 10% of nothing. They would still have to pay their rent, office staff, utilities, etc., so if they haven't some savings to tide them over, I can understand some theater-concentrated ones are really suffering now, especially since Broadway has announced it's not opening until January of next year, as of now. Plus regional theaters and touring companies are closed, too. Casting people make money being contracted to find, winnow out whom they consider the best from many who want roles, and audition people for shows. Again, it's not happening right now, and they have similar expenses. |
