Your post came across as a little racist. I don’t think it was intentional. But you’ve got a bias and it poked through. Or your phrasing lacked clarity in such a way it was misinterpreted. The thing about racism is that other people decide if what you did felt racist to them. Your intentions don’t matter because you’re likely not aware of your biases. It’s tough when this happens but it’s also a great opportunity to take the note and say “oops. It’s like when you have broccoli in your teeth. You can’t see it. And you wouldn’t cry “Hysterical!” if someone pointed it out. You’d say, “oh geez, thanks.”
No one is saying you’re a bad person. I always like your posts and look forward to more of them. |
