You're not alone. I enjoyed the Lestat score too, although the show itself didn't quite work. Has there ever been a commercially successful vampire musical? Anyway, I was disappointed there was no cast album. I definitely would have bought it (and still would today if Elton John ever softens his heart about a recording). Although it's a long shot, a studio cast recording would probably be more likely -- that is what was done with the other vampire musical I enjoyed seeing, i.e., Dracula. Another fine Wildhorn score.

I did like Billy Elliot, though. It made me cry. I saw it twice on Broadway, the sanitized tour in Chicago, and 2 local productions with all the f-words gloriously restored.

Yes indeed. While the Broadway version of "Tanz der Vampire"--under the title "Dance of the Vampires"--was a disaster, "Tanz der Vampire" has elsewhere become something of a classic. Since its world premiere in Vienna in 1997, it has returned again and again to great success in Austria, Germany, Japan, Russia, Hungary, etc.
