I was very confused by the monologue because it felt totally out of character for Emily.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!
I couldn’t tell if the playwright wanted us to believe she had gotten an abortion. All the other dramatic turns were eventually spelled out in their final moments. Hers stayed oblique with the style of the monologue. Or perhaps we were supposed to feel her pain of being caught between two ideologies?
I would love to learn what other people got from it. I might have missed the point entirely. |
