| I think the author intended the play to irritate and antagonize the audience. The actual stage production was one of my favorites last season, but the politics of it really pissed me off. But don't we go to the theatre to be challenged? This wasn't meant to teach a lesson in morality. I think it was meant to present a viewpoint completely opposite of most people in the audience. It was interesting to listen to the audience afterwards saying how much they hated it, without being able to articulate why. Playwrights Horizons should be applauded for presenting it. |
