"I'm not seeing it!"
Seriously? A father was recently shot in broad daylight while crossing the street with his six year old daughter. He was shot DEAD right in front of her! According to Newsweek magazine shootings in NYC are up 277% from this same time last year. You may not be seeing it, but the media is reporting it to the rest of the country. If Covid-19 were eliminated right now with a double whammy, a cure and a vaccine, and theaters opened back up next week, those crime statistics would keep many away. NYC is not the only place to see live theater and who wants to risk their lives going into the city? I guarantee you, not many. Theater folk may not think this is a thing, but I know of people who even a year ago would ask me, "Aren't you afraid to go into the city so late at night?" And I would laugh at them. I wouldn't laugh now. |
