Of course, there have been many amateur productions of the Mousetrap over the years. I assume they were done with approval.

I saw it almost 50 years ago in London and again about four years ago. It's just as thin and hokey as ever, but they have reinterpreted it a little by implying a gay angle. It didn't help.

The one saving grace is that it is across the street from the Ivy. But, sadly, the Ivy has now been renovated in a manner almost as bad as that misguided mess of the Blue Bar at the Algonquin. Like the Algonquin, all the charm has been sucked out of the whole place. Why do they do these things? Just to look like every other place? Ditto at Simpsons on the Strand. Also ruined is the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin as well as the Le Grand in Paris across the street from the opera house. Disasters.
