I saw the live transmission on Saturday, and it was marvelous. ;-)
The program listing leaves off the two piano solos wonderfully played by Jonas' accompanist Helmut Deutsch - the intermezzi from Manon Lescaut and Pagliacci. Deutch's playing all through the recital was equal to Kaufmann's singing - a perfect partnership.
There was indeed one major glitch in the first aria (the vocals dropped out for maybe 20 secs or so) - I notice that this was not fixed for the replay. Just so anyone watching at this point doesn't panic, lol. |
