As a resident of Hell's Kitchen, I cannot and will not dispute that there has been a serious upturn in crime. It is real, it's going on in this neighborhood and elsewhere (worse in some other parts of the city), and it's not some crazy right-wing fantasy.
But by the time Broadway re-opens, I think some of the things that seem to have been causing it will have changed. For anyone to say, "I won't go back to Broadway because crime is out of control" seems, at best, silly and, at worst, harmfully inflammatory. |
