That's news to absorb, Singapore. I have never heard that critical take, and I welcome it. I don't believe most theater collaborators -- certainly not playwrights -- are aware, likely because PlanPenn's self-promotion has proven to be aggressive and image-building. If you visit the largest playwright resource page(s) in social media, you'll see countless discussions about submissions there, semifinalist status as a hard-won marker, and the presumption of a coveted artistic imprimatur in selected works. Not just among emerging writers, I should note. I would be the first to say that The Lark was in another echelon, just based on anecdotal evidence and having participated in a workshop there. But PlayPenn wants the world to believe it's O'Neill's peer, or even successor. I think literary managers are the best experts on measuring quality, and appreciate your shared thoughts.
